Dream Sculpture C1

Conceived during a REM-state episode on December 29, 2020, this sculpture manifests as a lucid transmutation of dream architecture into a kinetic matrix of material and metaphor. Composed of acrylic, argon, neon, rubber, and glass affixed to powder-coated steel, it summons the cosmological schema of the mandala while navigating the socio-political scaffolding of the American Dream. Kyle Yip activates neon not as spectacle but as circuitry—an energetic diagram that frames the recursive tension between aspiration and alienation, sovereignty and submission. The form delineates a centrifugal pull: a centripetal archive of selfhood rotating within collective mythos. It initiates neither resolution nor retreat, but a calibrated orbit of enquiry, through which the viewer must reckon with the artifice of nationhood, the projections of success, and the unconscious architectures that underwrite identity. What emerges is not a static symbol, but a charged annex within the spiritual matrix: a station of symbolic return and perpetual recalibration.
